WHY GO? To delve into cinematic history. His quirky films create magic, they have enthralled audiences around the world, and now comes the opportunity to see how, why and what influences Wes Anderson to make films we love like The Darjeeling Limited and Moonrise Kingdom.
This retrospective includes over 700 items from his films and is the first time his archives have been on show in the UK. It reveals Anderson’s singular creative vision and passion for traditional hand-made filmmaking techniques.
Fans will remember specific items that are key to favourite films like The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums, all on view along with shorts screened that reveal his idiosyncratic obsessive way of working.
Featuring over three decades of Anderson’s archives, from original storyboards to miniature puppets, the exhibition portrays a filmmaker who is a storyteller extraordinaire with a unique cinematic style.
From Anderson’s first film Bottle Rocket (1996) to his latest The Phoenician Scheme, there are curiosities and props to admire plus many of the costumes that have helped create characters like concierge Ralph Fiennes, in The Grand Budapest Hotel and Tilda Swinton’s eccentric dowager Madame.
A fun romp through cinematic history for film buffs.

IN THE KNOW Hang onto the magic and treat yourself to a special Wes Anderson inspired tea. The Courtesan au Chocolat experience is crafted to complement his aesthetic and is packed full of goodies like coronation chicken sandwiches and pistachio financier cakes.
